The Terms and Conditions will constitute the entire agreement between De Esdoorn and you with respect to lessons and other educational services provided by De Esdoorn. There are no representations or agreements not incorporated herein. De Esdoorn has the right to amend, delete and add to the Terms and Conditions. All amendments, deletions and additions will be effective 15 days after notice thereof is communicated to you.
Courses and Registration
De Esdoorn offers various lessons and packages:
- Children’s Group lessons – Full school year (online or in person at 3 locations)
De Esdoorn offers Preschool, Kindergarten, Primary School and High School classes that run throughout the school year. Students can be accepted throughout the school year, which runs from the second week of September to the third week of June.
- Children’s package lessons – 10 weeks / 20 weeks (online)
De Esdoorn runs regular online Dutch courses for children that will run for 10 or 20 weeks.
- Adult lessons (online)
De Esdoorn runs several adult courses per year for different levels of Dutch.
- Private lessons
De Esdoorn offers private lessons for all ages. Lessons can be started at any time.
- Summer camp
De Esdoorn offers Summer camp sessions for children aged 4-14.
To apply, the relevant online registration form needs to be completed. Filling out and submitting the registration form to De Esdoorn does not guarantee admission or the course going ahead. Sufficient registration is needed for certain courses to go ahead, which will be confirmed via email to all students at least one (1) week prior to lessons starting.
For Full school year lessons, registration is not complete until payment of deposit has been received.
Books & Learning Materials
Any books and learning materials provided to students will need to be returned at the end of the trimester, unless otherwise advised by De Esdoorn. You will be liable for the replacement costs of missing or damaged books and learning materials.
If you purchased lesson materials/books for adult or private lessons, the lesson materials/books will remain yours.
Tuition Fees
De Esdoorn is a not-for-profit society with a volunteer board. The tuition fees per student cover the cost of teachers, locations, books, learning materials and general costs. However, for adult and private lessons, an additional fee may be payable for books or lesson materials.
All fees exclude applicable taxes and are subject to change by De Esdoorn.
All fees are due prior to the lessons/classes starting.
Payment
Upon receipt of registration, a non-refundable registration fee might be payable for some courses/classes. For the current (school)year, the registration fees required are:
- Primary and Secondary School Group/Toddler lessons – online or in person: $400 per student
The remainder of the tuition fee is due before the start of the lessons/classes on receipt of invoice. Personal Payment Plans can be arranged by contacting the Treasurer via email to discuss.
Payment of registration fees, tuition fees and payments for lesson materials can be made via etransfer on receipt of invoice to [email protected] . Any costs related to this payment (etransfer or wire transfer fees) are to be paid by you.
Late payment of more than 1 month (30 days) will result in a $30 administration fee plus any other costs endured by the society. These costs will be added to the amount due.
Cancellation and Refunds
De Esdoorn will determine if a class/group has enough students to be viable before it starts. In the event the class/group is canceled due to lack of registrations, all tuition fees will be refunded.
Once classes/lessons have started, full refunds will no longer be given.
Group and Toddler lessons – Full school year (online or in person)
If you need to cancel your child’s registration for part of or the entire school year, we require:
- a written notification to [email protected]
- giving at least 1 month’s notice and
- explaining the reason for the request (i.e. relocation, unexpected financial hardship or change in circumstances, illness, etc.).
Each request will be considered and processed within six weeks of receiving the request. The deposit of $400 is not refundable. The remainder of the tuition fees will be refunded on a pro-rated basis from the date of the cancellation request, minus a one-off administration fee of $25.
Adult/Private lessons/Package lessons
If you need to cancel your adult/private or package lessons once they have been confirmed/have started, De Esdoorn requires a written notification to [email protected], explaining the reason for the request (i.e. relocation, unexpected financial hardship or change in circumstances, illness, etc.).
Each request will be reviewed within four weeks of receiving the request.
An administration fee of $50 will be charged/not be refunded.
Summer camp
De Esdoorn requires a written notification to [email protected] if you decide to cancel your child’s participation in our Summer camp once camp has been confirmed. An administration fee of $50 will not be refundable.
Failure to send a written notification to confirm cancellation will result in additional administration fees being charged.
Media
De Esdoorn may photograph or videotape lessons for advertising or promotional purposes. De Esdoorn reserves all rights to use such media. If you do not wish yourself or your child to be photographed or videotaped, this must be clearly stated in your Registration Form.
Medical and Health Condition
Any material matters relating to a student’s medical or health condition must be declared to De Esdoorn within the Registration Form. Additionally, you are responsible for updating De Esdoorn of any material changes relating to a student’s medical or health condition in a timely manner to ensure the health and wellbeing of all students and staff.
Limitation of Liability
The maximum liability of De Esdoorn arising from all acts, errors, omissions or otherwise for which De Esdoorn or any of its directors, employees, agents and assigns is found liable will not exceed the total fees paid to De Esdoorn for the services rendered giving rise to the claim. There will be no other liability, obligation or responsibility of De Esdoorn of any kind. All claims against De Esdoorn will be deemed to have been waived by you unless legal proceedings are commenced in British Columbia against De Esdoorn within the one year period immediately following the act, error, omission or matter giving rise to the claim. De Esdoorn will not, under any circumstances, be liable, in any respect if proceedings are not commenced within that one year period.
Notices
All notices to De Esdoorn must be in writing by email to [email protected].
Waiver
No waiver of any provision of the Terms and Conditions, unless provided in writing by De Esdoorn, is valid against De Esdoorn.
No Assignment
You may not assign any of your rights, duties or obligations.
Severable
If any provision of the Terms and Conditions is held to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable, in whole or in part, the remainder of the terms and conditions will remain in full force and effect as if any invalid, illegal, or unenforceable provision had not been contained herein.
Governing Law
The Terms and Conditions and the Registration Form signed by you will be governed by, and be construed in accordance with, the laws of British Columbia, and you hereby irrevocably attorn to the jurisdiction of the courts of British Columbia.
