Adult Lesson Packages

Adults learn Dutch too! Whether you’re just starting or at an advanced level, we have a lesson for you. Is a group class not ideal for you? We also offer private lessons, in a small group, or individually, our teachers can come to your home, office or online to teach you Dutch.

De Esdoorn offers several different levels of Dutch for adults and teenagers which align with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) levels (e.g. A1, A2):

Basic Dutch: this level consists of three courses of 10 lessons each. At the end of the Basic Dutch course you will be at A1 level of the CEFR:

  • Basic Dutch 1 is open to adults and teenagers who are interested in learning the Dutch language. No prior knowledge of the Dutch language is required.
  • Basic Dutch 2 is open to adults and teenagers who have taken Basic Dutch Level 1, or with some basic knowledge of the Dutch language.
  • Basic Dutch 3 is open to adults and teenagers who have completed Basic Dutch Level 2, or with a reasonable basic knowledge of the Dutch language. At the end of Basic Dutch Level 3 you are at level A1 of the CEFR.

Intermediate Dutch: this level consists of three courses of 10 lessons each. At the end of the Intermediate Dutch you will be at level A2 of the CEFR.

  • Intermediate Dutch 1 is open to adults and teenagers who have A1 level Dutch, based on the CEFR.
  • Intermediate Dutch 2 is open to adults and teenagers who have completed Intermediate Dutch 1.
  • Intermediate Dutch 3 is open to adults and teenagers who have completed Intermediate Dutch 2. At the end of Intermediate Dutch 3 you are at level A2 of the CEFR.

Advanced Dutch: the entire level consists of four sub-courses of 10 lessons. At the end of the advanced Dutch course you will be at B2 level of the CEFR:

  • Advanced Dutch 1 is open to adults and teenagers who have A2 level Dutch, based on the CEFR.
  • Advanced Dutch 2 is open to adults and teenagers who have completed Advanced Dutch Level 1, or with a reasonably good basic knowledge of the Dutch language.
  • Advanced Dutch 3 is open to adults and teenagers who have completed advanced Dutch Level 2, or who have a good basic knowledge of the Dutch language.
  • Advanced Dutch 4 is open to adults and teenagers who have completed advanced Dutch 3, or who have a very good basic knowledge of the Dutch language. At the end of advanced Dutch 4 you are at B2 level of the CEFR.

Yes, this is the course for you! Basic Dutch Level 1 is for people with no knowledge of the Dutch language.

Your best option is to register for private lessons to work specifically on writing skills. Private lessons can be held in person at your home or office, or online.

Yes, absolutely. Our teachers can come to your office to teach, for example, weekly during the lunch break. Often this is done as a 5 to 10 week course of 1 to 1.5 hours per lesson.
